Detectives across the United States and Canada search for Maud Moore and her companion Maria Hunter. Moore, 24, is indicted for first degree murder in a Knoxville businessman Derey Herth killing, with Hunter named as an accessory. Moore was previously convicted, then acquitted on a new trial and released on a $19,000 bond. Hunter was released on bond as well. A $1,000 reward is posted for their capture.
Chicago's police force underwent its largest reshuffle as Chief C. C. Firemorris replaced John J. Garrity after a resignation requested by Mayor William Lt. Thompson. The overhaul abolished Garrity era special squads including homicide, bomb, burglary, and other specialized units.
