Becker Sentenced to Die in Electric Chair at Sing Sing

New York May 29 Charles Becker was sentenced to die in the electric chair during the week starting July 6 at Sing Sing for the murder of Herman Rosenthal. Becker remained calm in court and smiled at friends. An appeal will be filed next Monday and could defer execution until the higher court rules on a possible third trial.

Lightning Kills Youth in Boulder Field

In Boulder nine miles east, George Meikle, 18, working on the C. A. Nix Bixler farm, was killed when a lightning bolt struck a tree sheltering him during a plowing storm.
