A slight earthquake was felt this morning across Indiana Illinois Wisconsin and Michigan with minor damage. Several small fires started with Aurora Illinois reporting considerable loss as people in most districts were knocked unconscious by the tremor.
In Los Angeles on May 26 evidence linked eighteen year old Ben Elliott to a murder of the Poltern last Monday. Blood stained newspapers found with him and a bloody shirt hidden near the crime scene plus a pocketbook bearing his name raised suspicion. Elliott claimed innocence but admitted petty robbery. His father, Lamoure N D resident Jenat, was part of the posse that captured him after a three day search near the beach.
The Cheyenne Motor club met at the Industrial club with many members present. Vice President Joe Stimson presided in President Barnett’s absence. They discussed forming a state automobile association of Wyoming including clubs from other towns and aligning with the American Automobile Association as papers are filed and capitalization established.
May 26 report from the general assembly of the Presbyterian church shows a near split over a resolution stating that family worship is a thing of the past. Moderator Holt exposed the issue while Dr. Roberts proposed the word neglected to soften the language.

Eyewitnesses on Seventeenth Street report a dog catcher choking a valuable dog tied to Cont Atkinson and dragging it in mud. The animal died soon after and Atkinson, seeking a license, claims license tags were exhausted as Arp and Hammond’s hardware store managers protested the cruelty.
In Spokane on May 26, AL W. Duncan, a f atherman, and his young son were swept downstream when their boat capsized near the Monroe Street Bridge. The father drowned in the attempt to save his child.
In San Francisco on May 26 Attorney Karl Rogers described the defense strategy as slipping the double cross in Patrick m s trial. The court heard about John G Lawler and Duther Brown and alleged payments for services. A disturbance occurred when Harry Loventeen was arrested and searched as he prepared to testify.
A thirteen year old girl claiming to be Florence Dood or Hope was found in New York on May 25. She said she ran away from her aunt’s home in April and spent over a month living on the streets, sleeping in doorways and scavenging for food.
In Omaha on May 26 the jury was seated for the Magaroudis murder trial. The Greek defendant is accused of killing Policeman Edward Pela which triggered the riot in February. Attorneys opened introductions and testimony began.
New York May 6 Prince Giovanni del Drago, a scion of an old Roman family, wed Mrs Schmid who has controlled the Lion Brewery since her husband’s death. Mrs Schmid, reputedly one of the wealthiest women in the United States, inherits much of the estate. her late husband’s will made her executrix with power to dispose, one third to her and the rest to their two children when of age. One child died. Pauline Schmid, married to Hugh A Murray, came of age in 1895 and later sued to recover her share.
Washington reports a new protectionist slogan for sugar, pledging to shield beet and cane industries from European imports. Louisiana Democrat Purnish urged Southern senators to support US sugar industries over revenue-only tariff plans, citing Jefferson on duties for life’s necessities.
Chicago residents report Mrs. W. O. Smith shaves her husband on alternate days to raise funds for a missionary cause. A Woman's Home Missionary Society gift apron a prize of a dollar and a geld pin for the most novel earnings. The Austin Methodist Episcopal Church society awarded first prize after unanimous vote.
George W. Taylor son of a New Orleans business man was arrested in San Francisco after alerts from Los Angeles where he fled on a charge of swindling several large hotels. The Hotel Men's association reportedly posted a $10,000 reward for his capture.
Alma Woodson, 75, died in her furnished room in New York last night from exhaustion after a beating of carpets during the annual house cheering event. She had been a private tutor, counted among her pupils students from prominent families, and is said to have tutored the children of Jay Gould.
Ex Sheriff Vir gl Kelly of Deveret reports the capture of W. R. Harper, alleged Utah double murderer, after a decade on the run. Harper, who fled with a companion couple in 1808, was tracked to a train depot in Cheyenne and held for Utah authorities. Kelly, still active in hunts, secured the decisive descriptive circulars and aided the arrest process.
