Aunt Paulina and the box of memories in a bed bound life
The narrator recalls Aunt Paulina with a Cosway miniature and an olive wood box carved by a Polish artist, a treasury of keepsakes and relics. She mocks the narrator’s ambition, teases about family fortunes, and recalls Uncle Peter and Eddie Poe, blending humor and sharp wit in a long life full of pretense and lore.
