Woman drops baby from window in Toledo building blaze

A boiler explosion in the basement of a Toledo four story apartment house injured twenty and caused rapid fire spread. A woman dropped her four year old from a window to awaiting helpers, while others leaped to life nets as flames filled stairs and halls. Fire loss was estimated at $75000.

Confessed Kill Case Ties to Lulu Stafford Murder

Maefield West Virginia May 20 John Thompson a white 19 year old yesterday confessed to authorities at Welch that on September 14 1908 he outraged and killed Lulu Stafford a 10 year old whose body was found in a clump of bushes in the McDowell County courthouse yard on September 17 Rewards offered and the patrols later failed to locate the killer. He allegedly confessed to his brother months earlier.
