Cross-Walk Improvements to Start in City Today

Work begins today under City Commissioner Joe Laughlin to install street and alley crossings and culverts in Cheyenne. Perry and Moulton lead the project costing 2 1 4.04 dollars, designed to keep feet dry and improve mobility across Thames to House and Sixteenth to sidewalks. The plan also extends to the South Side where sidewalks exist, with lower unit costs than in 1912, including 6 cents per foot for crossings and cheaper culvert openings.

Editor Dies While Addressing Conference Committees

Rev. John Manker of Athens Texas editor of the Methodist Advocate Journal collapsed and died today while lecturing the book committees at the Methodist Episcopal general church conference in Saratoga Springs New York.

Caplan Jury Discharged After 72 Hours Deliberation

Los Angeles May 16 The trial of David Caplan over the Los Angeles Times building destruction ended with a hopelessly deadlocked jury after seventy two hours of deliberation. Jurors reported a seven to five split in favor of conviction. A new trial date was set for June 15 for motions to reset the case.

Cheyenne Youth Loses Arm in Anaconda Smelter Belt

George Barlow, 23, son of Mr and Mrs George Barlow of 1815 House street Cheyenne, suffered the loss of his left arm Sunday at the Anaconda Copper Mining smelter in Anaconda Montana. He was removing ovens when his arm became caught in a conveyor belt and mangled. he was amputated at a hospital. His condition improved after initial danger passed. His mother, in poor health, heads to Anaconda with his father to be with him.

Kerry farmer hastens Casement capture in rebellion plot

John McCarthy a Kerry county farmer disrupted Berlin plans to have Roger Casement lead a nationwide Irish rebellion. During the How Street hearing Casement and Daniel Bailey were described as conspirators. McCarthy recounted finding three booted footprints and alerting authorities leading to Casement’s capture at McKinnon’s fort.
