A recent photo shows German Chancellor Bethmann-Hollweg noticeably plump, contrasting with earlier gaunt appearances. The image, taken at a Bismarck birthday parade, depicts the leader at over 200 pounds while the Kaiser displays strain in white hair and deeper lines.
Reports say enemy planes dropped bombs within forty miles of London causing at least one woman’s death. Strikes were concentrated over Southend and suburbia along the Thames estuary. Extensive property damage followed with buildings destroyed or damaged in the coastal borough.
A German foreign office dispatch to Washington expresses deepest sympathy for American deaths in the Lusitania sinking and assigns responsibility to Britain for starvation policies and armed British ships. It notes Britain publicly claimed armed vessels and war materiel on Lusitania.

Three exhibit cars would travel from Wyoming to major eastern cities with county representation and a $8 550 trip cost plus exhibit gathering expenses.
