An explosion rocked Cook county jail in Chicago this afternoon. Reports say several were injured as twenty prisoners tried to break free from a jail delivery plot. Guards clubbed the escapees into submission as federal court action loomed with 112 IWW members on trial.
At Fort McPherson an underground fifty foot tunnel toward the barbed wire was found after guards saw prisoners in discussion and a fight broke out. A search uncovered the tunnel and several leaders of the plot were confined. Colonel Van Orsdale said punishments will follow and more developments are expected.
The third Liberty Loan oversubscribed amid official praise as pledges reach 9.21 billion with hints the total may top four billion next week. Analysts expect 12 to 15 million subscribers across the nation and all twelve Federal Reserve districts report oversubscription.
