Judge Dike of Brooklyn County Court approves the adoption by Charles Francis Ark, a Chinese resident, and his American wife Catherine Duffy Ark, of George Whitlack, Arthur Whitlack, and Roth Whitlack, all under guardianship concerns. The case notes Ark’s thirty years in the United States and his Christian faith guiding foster care.
In Kentucky near Letcherline three women defended their home against a party of United States revenue officers led by Deputy Marshal Potter. Potter and Deputy Smith were wounded. A suspect is in custody as detectives trace a planned scheme, with books listing victims and stolen goods. Recovery includes bric a brac clothing jewelry and home articles, and more arrests may follow.

Booker T. Washington, head bandaged from injuries, plans to press assault charges against Albert Ulrich after an apartment doorway incident. Ulrich says Washington peeped through a keyhole in his building seeking a friend, leading to a confrontation that ended with both men detained by police on Sixty third Street.
Washington report cites General Arthur Murray stating Hawaii defenses require 25,000 troops to safeguard the islands. Mortars are staged at Honolulu and Pearl Harbor as the War Department studies a potential Japanese attack and aims to act promptly.
San Francisco report states Mina Crocker offered to return a $30,000 pearl necklace stolen during the colonial Mardi Gras in 1009 upon paying $10,000. A trap was laid at the United States Hotel with Mr Templeton Crocker’s letter but the writer was not captured and the messenger did not appear. Detectives and a jewelry firm manager waited in the lobby for hours.
Governor J M Carey intervened in the clash between divisionists and anti divisionists over Niobrara county creation. Eastern Niobrara faction led by H C Snyder and W A Shipley argued for immediate organization, while A A Spaugh and Harry B Card urged delay. With population and valuation figures presented and no petition signatures meeting legal requirements, Carey offered mediation and the issue will be settled by a special election.
Mrs. Charles Bchenke confessed firing at her husband after a wedding anniversary party that began with a euchre game at a church and ended with beer and whiskey at her home. The grand jury held her on a murder charge as she testified that a scuffle caused her to shoot while mistaking him for a burglar.
New York March 20 Principal Cronson of Public School No 26 West Thirtieth Street faces a $1200 fine after a Board of Education committee found he acted with undue familiarity with women teachers. The panel also noted incidents of embracing and an attempted sit on a knee during official duties and recommended the four months pay suspension. Cronson previously led Public School No 3 on Fudson Street.
In Phoenix Colonel Roosevelt concluded his Arizona tour by addressing about 5,000 in the city plaza. He urged immediate federal admission of the territory to the union and critiqued the recall provision while stressing Arizona’s right to shape its own constitution and laws.
Blairstown New Jersey March 20 Wilson Smith, lost for three days on the Blue Mountains, survived with three matches. Weak from exposure and hunger he wandered without food as snow and rain fell, but used matches to light fires and keep his companions warm until rescue or return home.
Reports from Nogales and Tecate describe Mexican forces rushing to border areas amid insurgent activity along the Sonora railroad. Bridges are burned, natives show sympathy with insurgents, and government men are being impressed as U S troops prepare to move if needed.
In Mineola New York a Supreme Court jury awarded Michael Carmody 40000 against the New York Central railroad for injuries to his right leg and left foot after he jumped aboard a freight car on September 26 and was kicked off. Witness John Curtin testified seeing Carmody fall and a conductor push them away.
