Wyoming cattle thieves jailed in Campbell county case

Seridan June 99 reports Rack aged 16 and William Piper aged 25 small stockmen jailed in Gillette Sheridan county for cattle stealing. They allegedly drove range cattle to hidden brands, killed some, buried hides, and planned to steal 500 head from Jones Commission to trade for heifers. Both married with children, separated by Sheriff Tait and stock detective Joe Lefors.

Young Woman Leaps From Train Near Kammerer and Is Killed

In Kammerer Utah Sunday morning a 22 year old, Helen Alexander, leaped from Oregon Short Line No 4 as it neared Wyoming and was run over by a passing freight train. She was the daughter of a Provo businessman and reportedly suffering a nervous breakdown. The incident occurred near the Sherman Co. depot area.

Alaska Waterfront Opened for Commercial Use

Seward will open a large portion of its waterfront to commercial activity under U S government action. Andrew Christlengen oversees leasing for the land department of the United States Railway as the two mile waterfront is subdivided for warehouses fishing plants lumberyards and factory sites. A spur line will connect with federal docks and terminals and private docks may be built with higher rents. Applications include a cold storage halibut plant a lumber yard and warehouses for an importing firm.
