Athens on June 2 witnessed the new Greek Ministry led by Venizelos take the oath at the palace. An enthusiastic crowd greeted the ministers before they returned to the government building where Venizelos delivered a balcony speech thanking the people. John Robinson Bians, a wireless hero of the White Star liner Republic disaster, reported to the recruiting station in New York on June 28 and enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps to aid in the war effort. He helped save hundreds of lives during the January 24 disaster.
Special to the State Leader reports John Wakem aged 27 died by self inflicted hanging Tuesday morning in a barn at the Sam Pasco ranch fifteen miles southwest of Belle Fourche. Sheriff Stevenson and Acting Coroner Sheldon described the act as suicide. The body was found by Mrs. Pasco. Wakem, a native of England, had shown odd behavior recently attributed to personal delusions.

A Danish steamer MVIGTADT was sunk by a German submarine outside a prohibited zone. The Danish steamer 416 tons was reported sunk by a German commander on arrival. Chase boats pursued, and the crew of the Danish vessel was involved in the incident.
