A white male stranger attacked Miss Helen Lovell and Miss Tavello on East Twenty fourth Street late Friday night. The women resisted and screamed for help, causing the assailant to flee down an alley. Initial police notes suggest no connection to another reported hold-up that same night.
T W Til Ashford a leading colored political boss in Cheyenne is shot dead at his West Seventeenth Street saloon. Harry Allen a Negro tamale peddler is jailed after a violent confrontation that left Ashford with three bullet wounds and Allen boasting a carefully aimed series of shots in front of the police station. The killing follows a dispute over a damaged bar and escalated as officers intervened.
A proposal from Senator Montana today calls for a board comprising the secretary of the treasury postmaster general and attorney general to oversee deposits.
