Women Librarians Needed for Camp Libraries
Dr. Herbert Pram of the Library of Congress notes that more women are needed as camp librarians but lack of overnight housing in camps makes employment impractical. The camp library rush peaks after evening shifts, with efforts like a Junior League house planned at Camp Upton to house two women librarians. Cornelia Marvin and Mary Ellen are assigned as special military post librarians at Vancouver barracks, while local town libraries cooperate with cantonment libraries nationwide. Camp Kearney shows the largest engagement among soldiers.
