In Chicago Roosevelt denounces rival Taft forces and calls out alleged boss influence and political theft. He warns that fraudulently seated delegates cannot bind the Republican Party and urges honesty and decency in politics amid a crowd at the Auditorium.
The Republican National Convention opens at noon with Taft and Roosevelt short of a majority. Root is seen as temporary chair. Borah may side with Roosevelt. Sixty six Negro delegates could swing to Taft or Roosevelt, while La Follette holds 36 votes. Woodruff of Kings County shifted to Roosevelt, claiming Roosevelt was robbed of delegates from Texas and Washington.
Chicago July 17 The Republican party leans on the 66 Negro delegates to the national convention as the crucial swing vote in 1912. Rival factions led by Roosevelt and Taft clash in a power struggle over delegate control, with fears of riot and splits if negotiations fail.
In Chicago on June 17 the Taft and Roosevelt camps fight for credentials to control the Republican convention. A strong committee on credentials and organization will decide the nominating process while hate dominates the battle. Many taft roosevelt leaders are blocked from seating as delegates.

The message warns against attaching legislative riders to spending bills and notes the bill would delay a new appropriation for the next fiscal year.

Denver aviator, a woman named Mia Springfield, was killed during a practice flight at the state fairgrounds. The wing of the biplane fractured a link, causing the craft to crash in the racetrack enclosure and the machine to flip over.
June 17 report from Chicago says the Texan delegation challenged Roosevelt supporters. The day opened with ten Roonevelt allies invited to a caucus, which Roosevelt adherents resisted, and the Texas group reportedly settled on a national committeeman slate including Bamiog H and P. Mo Gregor.
Albuquerque reports Governor McDonald may prevent the Johnson Flynn world heavyweight title bout planned for July Fourth in Las Vegas. The fight would move to Juarez Mexico if police action blocks the event.
Abe Attell and Tommy Murphy signed for a twenty round bout at the Daly City arena on July 4 in San Francisco. The announced match sets a high profile event for Independence Day boxing.
