Six Friends of Draft Resister Shot in Texas

In Huntsville Texas on June 1 six more African Americans were shot to death and their cabin burned near Dodge ten miles from Huntsville. The killings came after threats against Sheriff T K King and his family and followed the earlier killing of George Cabness a black draft resister. A seventh Black man reportedly exposed a plot to avenge Cabness by targeting the King family. It is unclear if deputies or a mob killed the six men during the dawn attack.

Alleged Forger Taken by Police in Cheyenne

Ivan Moore was taken into custody Saturday night after attempting to cash forged checks at several Cheyenne stores. The checks drawn on L. H. Miller and payable at Stock Growers Bank led to Moore's arrest after a clerk rejected a $25 check for $4 worth of dress goods and the subsequent cashing at a grocery raised suspicion. He is charged with forging and held in the city jail over Sunday.
