New Orleans July 27 The Southern Pacific steamship Ma Mis limped into port after two days of fire that destroyed much of her cargo and filled holds with water. Captain Boyd operated the wireless to summon the sister ship Comus for help as passengers endured smoky quarters and fear. The Ma Mis and event marked the worst nautical luck of the voyage from New York to New Orleans with the Momus crew and passengers detailing the perilous ordeal.
