Wyoming recruits sought to bolster state guard strength

Four recruiting parties left Cheyenne for towns across the state to raise the Wyoming national guard to full war strength. Safe Young Is In City Seeking Wyoming Oil

Hon Lafayette Young former U S senator from Iowa and Des Moines Capital editor with his son in law John P Herrick of Olea NY is in Cheyenne for a day or two. They plan to visit Casper and other old state centers. Herrick is elderly with interests in the state. Young known nationally as Lafe is a striking man who recently spent five months in Europe as a war correspondent including time in a German prison before his release. He is a strong preparedness advocate.

Progressive party to hold national Chicago conference

Bainbridge Colby of New York announced a national progressive gathering in Chicago to address widespread revolt against the national committee's endorsement of Charles E Hughes. Colby nominated Colonel Roosevelt and noted protests from progressives nationwide against the Perskins Flinn program. K J Wray forgot himself during a Tuesday night card game and attempted to wrestle with hostess Prank Goteh. He strangled the woman during the altercation, leaving her with injuries and earning a 60 day jail term after Justice Frank Housman ordered confinement without a chance to appeal.
