Aldermen Ready for Business Tariff Fight Nearing Finish

Washington July 8 The senate adopted thirty six of eighty tariff provisions before adjourning amid debate over retaliatory measures. The act would take effect March 31 1910 with a ninety day grace period before maximum duties apply. Tea and coffee duties were stricken out in an amended report. The senate also agreed to vote on the income tax constitutional amendment submission to the states.

Prosecuting Attorney C. L. Rigdon returned from Denver last night with Maurice Spliegal charged with embezzlement and J. C. Behilling charged with obtaining money on a worthless check. The prisoners were lodged in the county jail and will be arraigned for a preliminary hearing later.

Gilleta Wyoming July 3 A report from Hulett Crook County says Dr J W Wagner formerly of this place died there several days ago three hours after taking a dose of medicine to prove to a female patient that the mixture was harmless The woman complained that the medicine caused distress and nausea Wagner claimed the effect was imaginary and drank a quantity of the mixture He fell ill and died after three hours of agony

Heroic Family Drowns Saving Girl at Local Lake

Fort Collins July 3. George Fuller his wife and three children died in a lake twelve miles north while attempting to rescue a little girl who had fallen in while reaching for a basket of water. The parents and two boys perished in the effort.

Denver reports lightning killed four year old Agnea Garland and nine year old Edward H. Garland while they played in a knee high area near their mother who was cooking. The incident occurred in the afternoon on July 3.

O'Neil Upsets Nat Dewey In Fast Heavyweight Bout

Tim O'Neil of Chicago defeated Nat Dewey of Crawford Nebraska in Rawlins Wyoming on July 3 in the fastest heavyweight bout seen locally. O'Neil dominated all rounds and floored Dewey with a clean right cross in the seventh to win by knockout. Civic League Sets Plans for Two Playgrounds in City
