Third of a Division Wiped Out in Battle

Boston January 23 Governor Coolidge released statistics showing about one third of the Twenty six division’s 30 000 men became casualties in France. Of 11 955 casualties 1 730 were killed 3 624 badly wounded 2 819 slightly wounded 3 303 gas casualties 283 missing and 1360 taken prisoner. The unit spent 198 days away from the front and fought seven major battles gaining nearly twenty three miles and taking 4 148 prisoners and 400 guns.
