Washington January 10. Colombian minister Julio Betancourt says money indemnity for Panama is secondary to two issues in the current treaty talks with the United States. The first concerns recognition of Colombian law and the boundary with Panama, the second grants Colombia the same access to the Panama Canal as the United States. Until these are resolved, the indemnity amount cannot be fixed though estimates range from 25 million to 20 million dollars.

An unidentified deaf and mute man was struck by No. 42 near Arvada in Upton Wyoming. The train, running about 50 miles per hour, could not stop in time after the engineer sighted him on the track. He died shortly after.
