Paper mill site eyed in northern Montana
A report by KR McLaughlin, Blackfeet national forest supervisor, identifies a Flathead river area west of Glacier National Park as the likely site for a 4.3 million cord per year paper mill. The location would use 2.5 million cords of pulp wood, access government roads, waterways, and nearby power, with rail nearby. Demand spans from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico and 60 years of wood supply appear available. The Forest Service plans to request timber sale bids soon.
