Fire Threatens Cheyenne as Gilcrest Lumber Yard Burns

A night blaze at the old Gilcrest lumber yard on Twentieth and Reed streets in Cheyenne swept with a five mile per hour north west wind. Firefighters gained control by 2 30 am but extensive damage to the old building was likely, with the wind hampering further containment and posing a citywide threat.

Kendrick bill approved to regulate meat packing industry

Senate agriculture committee approved the Kendrick bill to regulate the meat packing industry and recommended divesting stock yards from packer control. The Associated Press report notes the measure aims to separate stockyards from packers in nation wide regulation.

Fire at Duff's College Sparks Mass Rescue

Pittsburg February 24 A dramatic blaze at Duff's Business College in the downtown district sent more than 200 girls fleeing and 20 suffocating. About 450 students occupied the building. around 160 escaped to the street before flames cut off access. Firemen rescued several by nets and windows as the fire raged late evening.

She first fell ill December 25 with grippe and influenza worsened in recent days. Funeral services Tuesday at the residence Rev H Grace will officiate. Burial will be in Belleville Kansas. Plotters Rounded Up for Killing Eisner

Berlin reports Prince Leopold is jailed in Munich on suspicion of involvement in Premier Eisner's murder. Conspirators planned to seize 20 hostages from the aristocracy. A provisional nine-member group formed, naming Professor Forsyter of the University of Munich. The Landtag may reconvene outside Munich. Eisner's widow receives a 16,000 mark annual pension.

Lewis Defends League in Senate Address Before Overflow

Senator Lewis spoke for nearly two hours defending the League of Nations as not abrogating the Monroe Doctrine or abandoning Washington's principles.
