A night blaze at the old Gilcrest lumber yard on Twentieth and Reed streets in Cheyenne swept with a five mile per hour north west wind. Firefighters gained control by 2 30 am but extensive damage to the old building was likely, with the wind hampering further containment and posing a citywide threat.
Senate agriculture committee approved the Kendrick bill to regulate the meat packing industry and recommended divesting stock yards from packer control. The Associated Press report notes the measure aims to separate stockyards from packers in nation wide regulation.
The Associated Press reports a Victory Liberty loan to be floated in late April with a preface of 5 billion dollars in short term notes rather than bonds. The amount is not fixed for a month and a half, with expenditures for the year seen around 19 billion. The plan includes 7 million in notes and aims to convert notes into long term obligations at lower rates.
Madrid dispatch reports the cabinet of Prime Minister Comnt Res has resigned. The king has requested the cabinet’s team to pass on the budget.
Acting President Dr George Norlin was unanimously chosen as the next university president by the Board amid a disrupted search. The selection comes after Dr Warrand, previously favored candidate, faced delays due to sabbatical and wartime service constraints.
New York February 24 All workers in the city building trades were ordered back to work under a pact between employers and labor and the government. A three three conference committee will hear disputed issues and any unresolved matters go to Judge Higro whose ruling will be final.
Washington February 24 Conferees in the oil leasing bill eliminated provisions extending the bill to include leasing and selling of Alaskan coal lands The measure will be reported back to both houses without delay in hopes of passage by this house
Pittsburg February 24 A dramatic blaze at Duff's Business College in the downtown district sent more than 200 girls fleeing and 20 suffocating. About 450 students occupied the building. around 160 escaped to the street before flames cut off access. Firemen rescued several by nets and windows as the fire raged late evening.

He stresses a common spirit at the peace conference, the goal of founding new standards of justice, and the duty of the United States to lead without pursuing national self interest.

Mrs J C Decker widow of Dr J C Decker died at 12 West Twenty seventh street Cheyenne after 5 30 last evening from influenza complications. She first fell ill December 25 with grippe and influenza worsened in recent days. Funeral services Tuesday at the residence Rev H Grace will officiate. Burial will be in Belleville Kansas. Survived by husband Dr J C Decker.
Berlin reports Prince Leopold is jailed in Munich on suspicion of involvement in Premier Eisner's murder. Conspirators planned to seize 20 hostages from the aristocracy. A provisional nine-member group formed, naming Professor Forsyter of the University of Munich. The Landtag may reconvene outside Munich. Eisner's widow receives a 16,000 mark annual pension.
Senator Lewis spoke for nearly two hours defending the League of Nations as not abrogating the Monroe Doctrine or abandoning Washington's principles. He rebuked critics and urged public referendum while an immense audience applauded the defense. Other senators were set to speak in the daily debate as the session neared adjournment.
