Court's course in liberating alleged outrager preludes private vengeance

Enver Feb 21 George Thomason who shot and killed Albert Reece was released on personal recognizance after Judge Haggett ordered it on DA VanCise recommendation Thomason said he would do the act again admitting he bought the gun to kill Reece and that he intended to let the law take its course but the law refused to prosecute. The judge directed a jury to acquit Reece of charges of statutory offenses against Thomason's daughter after state witnesses failed to appear.

Kathleen Foley death linked to poison at inquest

In Ophega Kan a inquest heard Kathleen Foley died after poisoning. Doctors Warriner and Van Horn testified the victim had candy from a neighbor, found in her coat pocket. George Cruse, Wichita salesman, faced bribery charges but refused to testify and pleaded not guilty.

Funeral of Mistress Edith Stanley Gardner

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Edith Stanley Gardner at Hobbs Huckfeldt Finkbiner chapel with Rev. J. S. Stubblefield in charge. She died February 16 1921 of pneumonia leaving husband Bert Gardner and two children, with several relatives ill. She was born July 31 1891, daughter of T. M. Stanley of Paola county.

Trial of Robert Montgomery in Brutality Case

Justice of the Peace court heard counter charges in the Robert Montgomery case after his arrest for beating wife Lottie Montgomery and allegedly abusing their two month old infant. Mrs Montgomery testified to repeated beatings while Montgomery claimed interference by in laws and threats against his life. He denied harming the child and described break ins and a leg injury.

In Lendo Wyoming on February 21 a mother mistook a poison bottle for medicine at the Cunningham home. The error killed two girls and left a Bennett boy near death. the Bennett girl survived uncertainly as the boy may recover.
