Washington Feb 20 The house prepared for a decisive vote on the railroad reorganization bill with both sides rallying support. Proponents expect passage with little to no amendments while opponents predict a tight contest. The measure faces opposition from many democrats and labor friendly members though some republicans back the bill.
Louise Mayer of San Francisco markets sun painting to mark skin with initials or designs. She plans to have her shoulder initials painted with a removable coating so the sun tans surrounding skin while the painted area stays light, creating a natural white design after washing off.
President Wilson told the Senate there is no agreement with Britain regarding the fate of the ex German vessels in U S possession. He provided no answer on disposition but sent a copy of a tentative agreement reached in private.

The Aero Club of America announced an Atlantic aerial circuit starting from New York or Atlantic City. Aviators will route via Haiti Porto Rico Caracas Pernambuco Dakar Mogador Casablanca to Lisbon or Madrid then London, with a non stop North Atlantic return. Eighteen countries reportedly commit to the event with total prizes of $100000.
Washington Feb 20 The Senate debate over the peace treaty deadlock grew bitter as Republicans and Democrats traded blame for failure to ratify. Senator Hitchcock denied Democratic motive in the campaign, claiming his party had gone nine tenths of the way to a compromise amid party leaders faulting each other for concealing behind closed doors talks.
The National Board of Farm Organizations appoints a seven member committee led by C. S. Barrett to draft a platform on agricultural issues. The group will seek clear positions from candidates and judge their ability to fulfill pre election pledges, aiming for a strong faithful long visioned leader.

California Senator Hiram Johnson challenged Elihu Root on the peace treaty calling it a political issue. He said it would be unfair to league members and the U.S. people to join the league under Root’s plan and have the president reform the covenant after inauguration. He urged reform now, not in March 1924.
New York February 88 United States Grain Corporation announced it will resume buying and offering flour in its guarantee program while suspending general purchases for two months. Wheat director Julius H Barnes said the act favors exporting wheat flour and the corporation will support the guarantee price if flour markets drop.
Washington reports say President Wilson’s reply to the entente premiers on the Adriatic question is expected to be finalized and coded for dispatch after formal approval. Officials note satisfaction in Washington as the note moves beyond argument, with talks likely to continue and possible return to the December 9 Paris accord terms.
Mrs A Devey of Chicago arrives in New York with the body of her son James Devera who died from wounds in action at sea. The casket draped with flags received military honors from the pier to Pennsylvania Station en route to Chicago for burial. Knights of Columbus supplied a motor truck for the journey after an undertaker charged 845 for a hearse. London reports Carranza has resigned as of February 20.
The Utah school five won at Cheyenne High School gym last night by 29 to 25. After a 19 to 9 halftime lead for Utah, the locals narrowed the gap in the second half but could not overtake the visitors.
