Explosion Destroys Great Western Oil Plant in Denver
Denver residents felt a citywide blast as two storage tanks at the Great Western Oil plant in West Denver exploded and burst into flames. Tragic Pathfinder project accident claims five lives
Five men died and two were seriously injured when a tramway cable broke from its moorings at the Pathfinder government project in Casper Wyoming. The victims, John Wood, John McLaughlin, W A Phillips, Barney Flynn, and Chris Moorey, were among workers about fifteen feet below the surface when they were swept 180 feet into jagged river rocks. Surviving injured were taken to area physicians with reports of potential recovery. Families prepared travel to their homes in Pennsylvania Marshalltown Iowa and Neosho Missouri. Superintendent George Larson and master mechanic W R Robinson were identified among the project staff.
