Emma Eames Paid Dearly for Husband Divorce

Paris reports that opera star Emma Eames agreed to pay $100,000 to Mme De Gogorzo to secure her husband De Gogorzo's divorce and allow marriage to the American soprano. The couple faced opposition from De Gogorzo's wife who initially demanded the sum. The baritone had gone to the United States while Eames secluded herself in Paris before reaching a settlement.

Democrats in House Win Census-Based Representation Rise

The Democrats in the House, with some Republican support, vote to increase representation after the 1910 census from 391 to 433 after March 1913. Other witnesses testified that he sold worthless land and urged continued payments through misleading letters.

Senate passes restrictive reform bill and judiciary measures

The senate approved an initiative and referendum bill viewed as weak, killed the Mets bill in committee, and sent a softer measure to the house. It also advanced two judiciary measures a supreme court term split at Sheridan and Taylor bill creating three new districts. The reapportionment bill moved forward as bills pile up for next week.
