CHICAGO Feb 1 Railroad leaders push for swift action at the labor board dispute over working agreements. W W Atterbury of the Association of Railway Executives protests further delay in responding to the request to abrogate the national agreement. He writes to BE T Whiter chair of the carriers' committee noting news that employees seek more postponement of their reply.
Sheridan Wyo Mayors announces creation of an industrial and building trades commission to negotiate with contractors for a city building campaign aimed at reducing unemployment. Plasterers' union agrees to voluntary wage cut of 1 to 1 2 percent.
Panic swept a North Denver high school gym during a basketball game when a balcony collapsed from fifteen feet, injuring fourteen including two seriously. Most hurt were women and girls. many fainted as the crowd rushed for the remaining exit. Athletic director Joseph Fleming aided victims and sustained scalp wounds.
In Hington on February 5, Senator Gerry proposed an amendment to the naval appropriation bill to fund four modern high speed aircraft carriers at not more than 24.6 million dollars each. House members Britten and Oliver outlined rival bills for two carriers each, with Oliver proposing a 50 million dollar cap per ship and a halt on other funds until battleships Massachusetts and Iowa contracts finish. Naval officers and Brigadier General Mitchell urged rapid acquisition, while Mitchell warned aviation pilots lack clear uses for the vessels.
Both houses adjourned early for a weekend break with 299 bills introduced. Washington February 5 The refusal of Republican leader Mondell to answer whether the Winslow railroad relief bill would be called Monday sparked a hours long filibuster in the House. The measure would allow partial payment of funds due to railroads under the Guarantee provision of the transportation act held up by treasury comptroller rulings. Representative Rayburn criticized Mondell but opposed a plan to limit debate to 40 minutes and bar amendments.
Cheyenne high school's undefeated basketball five beat Wheatland 82 to 26 at Wheatland. The fast Cheyenne squad dominated with strong offense and defense, securing another conference win over Wheatland’s big team.

In Los Angeles on February 5 a jury in Judge House's court found Maybelle Roe guilty of murdering Mc Cullough Graydon, a Venice real estate man, last September. Roe admitted firing the revolver but said she did not intend to kill. A prior trial ended with a hung jury.
Los Angeles on February 5 1903 Mrs Lou ise L Peete found guilty of murder in the first degree for the slaying of J C Denton. Verdict delivered after six ballots. she is jailed awaiting sentencing Tuesday at 9 30 am. Jury out from 11 44 am to 5 25 pm with lunch break.
Denver reports two masked bandits entered Yale laundry on Qurug street and rifled the cash register. They robbed three patrons of more than $550 in cash and escaped into the street, mingling with pedestrians.
Dr. C. O. Smith urged regulation of the coal industry to curb price fluctuations while Senate investigations shed light on 1920 profits. D. L. Wing testified that some operators earned margins up to 7.91 dollars on coal costing 4.12, prompting sharp exchanges with Senator Reed during cross examination.
Louise L. Peete was found guilty of first degree murder in the slaying of Jacob Charles Denton. The jury fixed life imprisonment after about six and a half hours of deliberation. Denton was last seen June 2, his body later found September 23 in the Denton residence basement.
Washington February 5 The joint resolution to halt enlistments until the regular army drops to 175000 men passed the House over President Wilson's veto by 271 to 16 with one present. Ninety-two Democrats joined the override. Senate action awaited. the veto message argued no need to reduce the force from 280000 given world conditions.
