Bank Cashier Shot Dead in Corona Hold Up

R G Stapleton 36 assistant cashier at Corona State Bank was fatally wounded by three bandits who held him up before noon. He died after saying he was held up and unable to describe the robbers. About $500 in cash was missing. Posses were scouring the area as investigators noted the bandits did not reach the vault.

Diners: Dynamite Plot Foiled at Legion HQ in Washington

Governor Louis Hart posted a 500 reward for the arrest of a man who tried to dynamite the American Legion headquarters in Berdeen Washington. Henry Lancaster a regionnaire spotted a smoking fuse and stamped out 28 sticks of dynamite wrapped in Montesano news paper and tied to a ten foot fuse. The building housed about fifty Legion members and the suspect fled as Lancaster questioned him. The probe ties to the Centralia Armistice Day killings.

Hospital Construction Nearing May Completion

The Memorial hospital of Laramie county reports rapid progress on the heating plant and the brick north wing. If open weather continues, the building could be enclosed by May with interior work well advanced. Routine board matters were also handled.

Three Arrested in Albany Ranch Raid

In a raid on the Dick Linder ranch eight miles south of Laramie Sheriff Trabing and deputies captured Harry Hoffman and Louis Kelly of Denver as they were operating a still. Dick Linder arrived with empty kegs. The still held 120 gallons. Ten gallons of liquor in kegs and bottles were found along with fifteen barrels of mash.

Bank of North Dakota capital questioned in state probe

F W Cathro, head of the Bank of North Dakota, testified before a North Dakota House committee that the bank’s $2 million capital came from a transfer of checks with the state industrial commission. He said the bank initially had no capital and acquired it within three weeks.

Defective Carburetor Cause Airplane Crash

In Mendota near St Paul Minnesota a mail plane crashed today after a carburetor defect in the enzyme area caused the fall. Pilot K H Stewart of Chicago was killed and mechanician G J Sampson of Minneapolis was injured.
