In Cody on January 31 a partial settlement with the government over Irma flat damages was announced. Officials W A Stebbing Geo O Sanford and Mr Rodile proposed compensation including future damages and the purchase of the John Word place at about 100 per acre, but the offer was rejected awaiting further word from Words. The issue arose after engineers drained the reservoir for repairs and wind blew silt onto adjoining lands. The agreement remains open pending new submissions.

Funeral for Dionysius Mantey, longtime Carr Colorado rancher, held at St Mary's cathedral with Requiem mass. He was born 1847 in Rosa Prussia and died after a three week illness. survived by eleven children, two wives, and many descendants. former Carr postmaster and Democrat.

Shelbourne Awarded 1250 Damages by Jury
The jury returned a verdict for Ora Shelbourne awarding $1,250 against former Surveyor General Alpheus P. Hougen after a three hour deliberation. The assault occurred in Niobrara county over a year ago when Hansen struck Shelbourne with a cape. Judge C. S. Winters presided with A. D. Walton and John B. Clark for the plaintiff and H. S. Ridgley and W. J. Kinkead for General Hansen.

TAX MONEY FOR 1913 WILL CLEAR CITYS INDEBTEDNESS
County Treasurer Ray K Olds delivered a check for 58250.91 to Commissioner Dan C Barksdale representing the city share of 1913 taxes collected to date. Under the new law the treasurer collects both city and county taxes and will be charged 642.15, to be turned into the county treasury. Delinquent taxes yet to be collected by Olds will bring about 7000 into the city treasury, reducing floating indebtedness and leaving only bonded debt.
