Organized railway machinists through their president warned Congress they would walk out if the Cummins railroad bill passes with its hard anti strike provision. A 98 percent vote of 125 000 members favored immediate action, but results were kept secret to avoid appearing coercive.

The scene signaled a possible bid to bypass leaders and secure a ratification with concessions.
Alex Miller, a mute farm hand held in Denver county jail, is linked to the murder of Adam Shank and his wife Elizabeth, and their four children at Ogilcrest Weld county. A Denver man reports seeing Miller about a mile from the Shanks’ Platteville home Sunday dawn. John Stephens, a truck driver, identifies the suspect and the ticket agent at Platteville confirms selling a railroad ticket to Miller to return to Denver Sunday morning.
Secretary Major Dan Jackson described a finding of bodies on a beach near Los Angeles, with Waterhouse and Connolly among the dead. Richards was arrested by Mexican authorities for reporting the discovery aboard the American steamer Providencia and stripped of clothing before confinement.
