At a Copper Mine strikers’ hall in Calumet Michigan a false fire alarm caused a deadly stampede during a Christmas celebration. Four people dead include 27 girls and 12 women while many children were injured or missing as exits were locked and rescuers worked through the crush.
President Wilson and his family traveled by private car to Pass Christian Mississippi for Christmas Eve. After a daylong journey through the Carolinas and Georgia they dined together and spent time in the observation parlor before retiring. Mrs Francia Bowes Sayre was absent.
In Pueblo Colorado Giovanni Guaranni 28 an Italian shot himself in his kitchen after failing to buy Christmas presents for his wife of seven weeks He pressed the revolver to his forehead and died soon after His wife said he had been despondent for several days due to lack of money and unemployment prospects

Postmaster G. W. Hoyt arranged extended service today so the public can claim mail packages and registered letters between the hours of the day and 1 oclock. Callers should visit the post office windows. carriers will not deliver in the city and will wait on customers.
In Texas the attorney general ruled homegoing travelers may not transport intoxicating liquor into dry territory. Only personal carriage is allowed by law. The decision arose after a passenger checked a trunk with a fair amount of liquor, which the railroad refused to carry.
In Chicago on December 24 Frank Klimek, an alleged quack practitioner, shot at Charles Alling Jr the attorney for the state board of health wounding Alling in the eye and lightly injuring P J Schwahn before fatally turning the pistol on himself The incident occurred during the prosecution of Klimek for practicing medicine without a license
