Inter Ocean Hotel Blaze Claims Six Members of White Family

Coroner Clyde Early prepares a rigid probe into the Inter Ocean hotel fire that killed six members of Roy A. White’s Bayles California family. Witnesses report no warning and say alarms and fire escapes failed to function while bodies lay in beds and near windows. The six victims will be shipped to Chariton Iowa for burial.

Shootings at John D Astle Saloon End in Fatality

Ramon Mandis a Union Pacific yard employee was shot dead in the John D Astle saloon at Sixteenth and Pioneer by an unidentified Mexican. The wound passed through Mandis’s head from the right ear as he stood near a side door. Police reported the shooter fled after firing three shots and was not caught early this morning. The gun used appeared to be a 32 caliber. Witnesses noted four Mexicans near the bar minutes before the shooting. The investigation continued at the pagés station.

Burlington Train Hits Auto at Thermopolis Killing Three

Five men were involved in a grade crossing collision near Thermopolis Wyoming. Three died at once and two were severely injured as a south bound Burlington passenger train struck a moving automobile driven by Bob Jenkins. Charles Jubar John Jubar and Nelson died, Jenkins driver and two others were injured.

La Fontaine lauds volunteers and merchants aiding city fire

Mayor Robert N. La Fontaine praised volunteers for rapid response to a blaze and thanked local merchants on Sixteenth Street for aiding firemen with hot coffee, meals, gloves, overshoes, and other supplies. About 35 firefighters worked, split between regulars and volunteers, who were mobilized quickly through a two‑way system.

Funeral of Jim Kidd Draws Cowboys to Los Angeles

A vast procession and emotional farewell in Los Angeles marked the funeral of famed cowboy Jim Kidd. Douglas Fairbanks and Al Jennings attended while horsemen gathered at the station as Kidd's coffin was prepared for shipment to Cheyenne. Reverend Charlan Edward Locke spoke, praising Kidd's generosity and hospitality to friends on the trail.

Fire at Union Pacific shops causes $100000 loss

A blaze at the Union Pacific coach shop and storehouses destroyed extensive parts of the facility with losses around 100000. Fire crews fought flames through the night as crowds gathered and winds shifted, saving the office and critical records while other structures sustained heavy damage.
