Market Report Cattle Receipts Hit Local Yards Near Four Thousand

Cattle receipts reached about 4000 at the local yards with Easter markets reporting liberal arrivals and slow trade. Prices fell 10 to 16 cents for many items while good fat steers and cows held near last week’s levels. Beef cattle saw strong demand with top steers around 7.50, several lots at 7.40 to 7.15, and heifers around 6.75. cows 5.00 to 6.25. Hog demand was solid as eastern markets dipped. one load at 7.70, others 7.40 to 7.65, with pigs 7.00 to 7.25. Sheep demand remained good with ewes 4.50 and lambs 7.50, though medium sheep and half fat lambs slowed.

Omaha market report shows hogs receipts 7 500 with prices 7 50 to 7 85 and most at 7 55. cattle receipts 6 000 with natives at 6 00 to 7 75 and western steers at 6 50 to 7 80. calves 6 25 to 9 75. sheep receipts 16 000 with yearlings 6 00 to 6 75 and lambs 7 25 to 7 90. overall market lower across hogs cattle and sheep.

Chicago stockyards report shows hog receipts around 8 000 dollars with price ranges from 6 25 to 7 80 per cwt as mixed quality hogs mixed. Cattle receipts near 95 000 with beves Texas and western steers priced from 6 50 to 9 50, stockers and feeders at 4 90 to 7 40, cows and heifers 3 50 to 8 20, calves 7 40 to 11 25. Sheep receipts 50 000 with native lambs 6 40 to 8 00 and western 6 40 to 8 00.
