Mexican Consul G M Seguin says Villista troops captured Coahuila but were driven out and fled to the mountains. Villa allegedly commanded the forces around Muzquiz with others marching to intercept fleeing units. Federals under General Muguia and General Truenda move toward Muzquiz to regain control.
The Cheyenne fuel committee revised restrictions after a telegram from Jef fers and Mayor Stone. New hours allow most businesses to open 8 am to 6 pm while banks run 10 am to 3 pm and entertainment venues such as theaters and dance halls have afternoon and evening limits.

In Kansas City on December 12 testimony in the espionage act case against 32 I. W. W. members included threats to blow up Kansas and Oklahoma oil fields. A government expert identified a 1917 Augusta Kansas union official as Thieman Eastman, with letters to Clyde Graham citing dramatic acts. The government also showed anti universal service documents and a letter to Haywood alleging I. W. W. conspiracy against the draft.
Washington December 12 the Irish republic claim was brought to Congress and debated through a boisterous all day session of the House committee on foreign affairs. Members shouted and jeered while urging action and offering advice to the committee.
Director General Hines authorized fuel directors to remove heat and power restrictions tied to coal use and to restore train services as regional fuel supplies allow. Officials cited variable regional conditions and progress toward miners returning to work amid strike settlement talks.
Otto Haensel, a former soldier, was reprieved by Judge Pam hours before his scheduled gallows, delaying execution to January 19 as he received last rites from clergy. Convicted of murdering his wife in 1914 after she left him ten days after their marriage, Haensel’s stay came minutes before the planned hanging in Chicago.
Sheriff S Roach of Platte County recounts the fatal confrontation that ended fugitive train bandit William L Carlisle at the Williams cabin one mile from Esterbrook. Noahh and W J McClement faced Carlisle after he stepped to the door. McClement ordered surrender, Carlisle dived back inside as Roach fired.
Federal warrant issued for former heavyweight champion Jess Willard for profiteering in cordwood sales. Warrant targets Topeka fuel committee members W. Anderson and J. Wilson for allegedly buying wood at 89.50 per cord and reselling. Willard to appear before U S commissioner Q. Claflin Jr in Kansas City at 10 a m tomorrow.
