Allegations include 36 hour stand downs, starvation, hair pulling, pistol threats, and forcing a soldier to swallow a lit cigarette. Detzer faces 28 specifications of assault and unbecoming conduct.
Toklo Setto and a Japanese national were arrested Monday night on a drunkenness charge. The Japanese man failed to appear in police court yesterday afternoon and forfeited a £25 bond.
Lawton Michigan reports the death of Maude Faith Tabor a 46 year old found in a trunk three and a half years after disappearance. authorities allege an attempted illegal operation led to her demise and embalming followed. Her sister Florence Tabor Critchlow and embalmer undertaker Joseph Virgo were involved.
District 22 United Mine Workers reports Reliance mine owners ordered miners to move after refusing to return to work. Soldiers and deputy sheriffs served writs, splitting families who found housing in Rock Springs. The case will be reviewed by UMWA national headquarters and sent to labor and federal officials for investigation.
City Clerk J. J. Showalter Mrs Eugene Beatty and their three year old son Charles Lee Beatty were found at the Applegate farm ten miles east of Carr after vanishing in a large blizzard en route from Cheyenne to Denver. Search efforts by vehicles from Cheyenne and Colorado ended with the refuge found and friends informed.
A United Mine Workers official said a settlement to the coal miners strike is likely, with conservatives in the majority and a vote on the presidential proposal possible after 9:30 the next morning. Four caucuses of radicals from Indiana Ohio Illinois and western Pennsylvania met tonight as plans to continue opposing the plan were outlined. Lewis and Green supported the proposal and urged its adoption, while the conservative faction appeared poised to carry the final decision when the committee reconvenes.
Harry Weinberger, counsel, announced an appeal to the full bench of the Supreme Court after Federal Judge Moyer denied habeas relief. Berkman and Goldman remain held at Ellis Island pending argument and final decision.
