The Senate debated war taxes with a Simmons backed cloture petition to speed passage. An amendment would raise war profits to 1.06 billion, pushing the total levy to about 2.522 billion. Denver August 24 The standoff between Harris mine workers and Colorado-Utah Coal Co was amicably settled at a conference.
