Wilson addresses R R men after the fourth punitive expedition into Mexico. Cavalry cleared bandits from the Big Bend area and will resume border patrols from Marfa Texas. Aviators supported the operation by locating bands and delivering supplies.

Brotherhoods Order Strikers Back to Work

Los Angeles reported orders from the Big Four railway brotherhoods to return to work had not ended the city’s four day strike of switchmen yardmen shop men and trainmen. Strike leaders declined comment while some insisted Pacific Electric trainmen must be recalled first. No trains moved into or out of Los Angeles as strikers planned to further cripple street railway service.

Sergeant Welch Leads Russell Field Meet At Fort Russell

Sergeant Welch of Fifteenth Cavalry won $60 total in prizes at the Russell Field meet. He captured five firsts in running events and anchored his relay team to victory. Lieutenant Edward J. Welsh, morale officer, awarded an additional prize. Mayor Thompson and Col. M. M. McNamee presented the cup trophy.

Itinerant tooth-puller gives Wyoming ranchman fatal dose

Edward B. Wilson a ranchman living about 75 miles west of Riverton Wyoming died from a drug given by an itinerant dentist whom he had allowed to treat his teeth After the operation he asked for relief and received a dose that caused his death No charges have yet been filed against the dentist.

Rioting in Pittsburgh as trolley strike sparks chaos

August 25 rioting follows efforts of Pittsburgh Railway receivers to end the carmen strike that halted trolley service for eleven days. Two cars wrecked and windows broken. several injured and numerous arrests reported. Receivers blame lack of police protection and hint at possible further attempts to run cars.

Consolidation Plan for Sinclair Oil Properties Announced

New York Aug 28 Sinclair directors agreed to consolidate all Sinclair oil properties in the United States and abroad into a single corporation. Stockholders of Sinclair Oil & Refining, Sinclair Gulf, and Sinclair Consolidated Oil will vote at special meetings in September to confirm the plan. The new entity will be Sinclair Consolidated Oil Corporation operating under New York law.

Yankees Lead In Aerial Derby At Roosevelt Field

Three fast planes completed the first leg of the Toronto to Mineola round trip in the first international aerial derby. Sergeant Frank Coombs of the United States flew a DH-9 with a Liberty engine to Roosevelt Field, landing at 7 11 after a 500 mile course from Toronto. Flying time was 3 hours 35 minutes with stops in Buffalo Syracuse and New York.

Senate to Hear Foreigners on Peace Treaty Desires

The eight day schedule will cover disputed questions including Plume and Aland island status and German colonies in Africa. Witnesses include Italians, Jugo Slavs, Hungarian Americans, Greeks, Irish, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Athenians, Letts and Americans. One day of treaty amendments is cut from three to two.

A Ford Wyoming license number 10001 owned by W.4 Seow was stolen from the wheat area late last night. The sheriff’s office monitored roads out of the area after a brief session and hoped the vehicle would be recovered soon.
