At Frontier Park a monster crowd packed the grandstands as the finest riders and range men competed in roping and rough riding. Charles McKinley, Gail Downing, Nels Perry and others posted notable times, while events highlighted a lively West show with strong attendance and spirited cheering.
A crowded Cheyenne event featured riders like McKinley Webb and Henry Webb in a bold display on tough horses, with colorful performances from Colored Boy Sticks and Rainbow, plus women riders Blanche Mayahay Lulu Parr and Hazel Hoxle. The program listed wild burro exhibitions, pony and Indian races, bucking contests, a military exhibition, and the final Indies world roping championship.

In Wasitington Aug 22 Republicans in the Senate fought a lengthy session over free raw wool and deep cuts in woolen manufactures under the Democratic tariff bill. Sen La Follette proposed a third minority substitute with 11 percent ad valorem on first grade raw wool, second grade to be free, and called for changes to duties. The measure sparked criticism from Sen Warren and Sen Lippitt while Penrose urged Britain would benefit from the proposed rates. A vote on the woolen schedule was delayed, with leaders hoping to finish discussions by tomorrow or next week.
Washington reports indicate the Huerta administration in Mexico may reconsider rejecting American proposals to restore peace and seek new talks with the United States before next Tuesday. Officials say Huerta’s finances threaten a crisis and a change to open negotiations could delay President Wilson’s address to Congress.
In Cheyenne Secretary of War L M Garrison faces questions on troop returns and border policy.
