State to Erect Two Long Bridges in Two Counties
The Wyoming state highway commission seeks bids by August 31 for a 272-foot reinforced concrete bridge over the Big Horn river at Thermopolis connecting the town with the Big Horn Hot Springs and a 650-foot five-span steel bridge over the Snake river near Wilson in Lincoln County to link Jackson Hole with the rest of the county. The Thermopolis bridge will replace a timber span with a landmark concrete structure funded partly by a state levy and federal aid. The Snake River crossing, longest in the state, follows earlier flood damage and years of ferry reliance, pending design selections from August 31 bids.
