Cheyenne social notes report Colonel and Mrs. Dugan of Fort D. A. Russell as guests of Mrs. Bigelow at a Plains Hotel dinner for eight. Attendees included fort officers and ladies. centerpiece featured pink astors.
William Hoskins of the Wyoming Book Store company returns from a month visiting California. He attended the Edison dealers convention in San Francisco and visited family vacationing in the southern state. He enjoys the trip but favors Cheyenne living and work. James Carman of Mayfield KY reports relief after Foley Kidney Pills for back pain and rheumatic symptoms.
Greybull bounced back from a Thursday double-header loss to Laramie Midwest by defeating the Laramieites 8 to 4. Sam McCarty, once with Bidwell's Indian team, now plays for Greybull, while Pickett the Kimball fast pitcher won his game in the double-header. Cheyenne players hail him as the best they have faced.
The Laramie county teachers institute will be held the week of August 80th with many educators traveling from afar. A housing shortage exists. locals are urged to open their homes for 1108 week to accommodate the visitors. Cheyenne residents are asked to list rooms at the county superintendent's office or write promptly to secure accommodations.

In Cleveland on August 16 1920 the joint scale committee of the central competitive coal field remained deadlocked after operators failed to sign up, ending Monday night with no agreement.
Refused the miners demand for higher pay and operators counter proposals. A joint sub committee adjourned after a three hour session with no agreement. Sub committee members said little sign of an immediate settlement appeared. In other news, forces in Siberia and Belgium and the American Legion in California are noted while aviation instruction is urged on the university by the war department.
In Berkeley California on August 16 the university announced that compulsory military training for students will expand beyond infantry drill and rifle practice to include instruction in automatic rifles hand and rifle grenades and machine guns. President Barroes of the university served with the American forces.
A strange young man trying to manipulate a punch board at the Kandy Kitchen in Evanston Wyoming caused Lysle Shelver to eject him by throwing him through a plate glass window. The man fled and was last seen running along the horizon.
