Amiens France August 16 The first race pitting nature against production saw Le Blanc in a Farman biplane fly fifty miles to Amiens as 47 carrier pigeons from Doual were released. The plane outpaced the birds and arrived ahead of the flock, with pigeons finishing minutes later and Le Gagneaux following after a longer flight.

Freight Trains Collide Near Grand Junction Injuring Three
Two Rio Grande freight trains collided head on near Woodside about 2 am injuring three men from Grand Junction. Engineer Frank Mush and engineer Harry Lopas were hurt, Lopas severely with two broken ribs and a crushed arm.
