Herman G. Hoffman a confessed radical and member of a gang led by John Alexander was arrested on Thursday police said. Detectives gained information on the gang's activities and connected Hoffman to Bolshevist literature and overseas contacts. He claimed America first after returning from Germany two months ago. He said John Burton who was indicted with Lloyd and others fled on bond. Burton allegedly operates with headquarters in Hamburg and Berlin and commands a large follower network.
The west-bound stock Essex car of a postal service relay stopped in Cheyenne for fuel from 6:45 to 7:00 PM. Piloted by J. R. Taber and Henry Bond of Council Bluffs Iowa, it logged the longest leg from Council Bluffs. The Essex run is a three relay project with a record-setting first car completing the coast-to-coast trip in 140 hours 43 minutes.
