Steady Flow At Government Exhibit Train

A massive turnout of about 6000 visitors viewed the government safety exhibit train at Burlington station from noon to nine last night. The display, organized with Union Pacific support and Secretary Franklin K. Lane, covered eleven cars showcasing reclamation, mining safety, land development, forestry, naval protection, and current government projects. A motion picture program included footage from the Mexican border, a battleship, and Yellowstone, with a luncheon for Cheyenne leaders discussing the reclamation service and its expanding role in aiding land settlement.

Ed Riley Held Responsible for Fatal Assault

A coroner’s jury found Ed Riley responsible for the death of Theodore P. Zouras, proprietor of a shoe shining parlor at 1607 Capitol Avenue, who died after being attacked by Riley near 918 West Eighteenth Street. Blast Wrecks Halsted Street Car Injuring Dozens

In Chicago Australia early today a double explosion caused by short circuits wrecked a Halsted street car. About a score of people were injured and four likely fatally. Death toll rises from West Virginia floods

Sixty six people are known to have died in three cloudbursts in West Virginia with ten thousand left homeless. About four hundred square miles were flooded and property losses reach one million dollars. Cabin Creek washed to a barrow bed as sixteen miles of area were erased. Governor Hatfield sent two more companies to the lead district as death and suffering mounted.

Man Killed Stealing Ride Near Grand Junction Colorado

George Lawrence aged 25 from New York was killed at noon when struck by a Colorado Midland freight train at Palisade twelve miles east of Grand Junction. He had been stealing a ride on the train. A warrant was issued for Conducator Harley and for his appearance before an autopsy.
