House panel approves eight billion dollar revenue bill

Washington August 1 The house committee approved a comprehensive eight billion dollar revenue bill authorizing excise taxes on tobacco, cigars, theatres and amusements, billiard halls and bowling alleys. A one percent tax on mail order retail sales over 100000 yearly was approved along with a six percent uniform rate on Pullman seats and fares. The committee projects about 1090 million in excise revenue and rejected proposed half percent hit on chain store sales and child labor constraints in manufacturing.
