Wireless to Be Used to Convey News of Fishes
Halifax, N S April 29 Equipped with wireless a fisheries cruiser will scout off the Canadian coast this season. It will flash locations of schools of food fish to coastal stations which transmit to fishing boats. Arrival location size and direction will be wirelessed. Boats in harbor will be notified directly and larger vessels will receive the information at sea. This modern aid accompanies a wartime campaign to promote fish as food and build a new industry. Fast trains move fish to Montreal Ottawa and Toronto for distribution inland. More than 500000 pounds of flat fish and cod are marketed monthly on the Pacific coast. Inland lakes have fisheries with Sacktehowan alone catching over 80000 pounds yearly. Canadians are expected to consume more than ten times as much fish due to propaganda and government railway cooperation.
