The House passed the army bill 907 to 24 and the Senate 81 to 8. Both chambers backed conscription with large margins by rejecting volunteer army amendments. Senate lowered age range to 21 to 37, House kept 21 to 40. Conference likely after final passage.
Senators Thorkas of Colorado and Representative Hilliard sod Keats ing of Colorado joined others voting against a measure. Both houses adopted amendments to raise enlisted pay just before final roll calls. Fitzgerald of the appropriations committee opposed the three billion dollar age appropriation at the last moment, warning it would render Congress mere ante mation. The section was eliminated. Washington April 24. Gunmen in Canada held in France, batteries sites, ten fire real trained not to hit as Bombing is taught.
Hastings Colorado April 26 virtually all hope of saving any of the 120 men entombed in the mine explosion has been abandoned. Thirteen bodies recovered so far as inspectors and rescue crews press on. G F Bartlett of Victor American Fuel says work continues until all miners are found. An improvised morgue enlarges the grim scene.
Reports say about 7000 regulars will be stationed at Fort Russell as several companies near arrival. H P Needham notes orders to prepare transport cars. Maj Arthur Parker advertises 20 quartermaster posts with sergeant promotions and pay from 36 to 45 dollars monthly. Governor Houx to return from state tour.

Harry P. Hynds, manager of the Plains hotel and a prominent figure in the state, was operated on in Denver yesterday after a sudden illness that appeared to be indigestion. Surgeons worked over three hours. officials say his condition is critical but hopeful for recovery, with a return to Cheyenne not expected for two to three weeks.
Judge C. E. Winter will preside in Rawling next Monday over the division of a $6500 reward offered for the capture of Carlisle the U P bandit. Claimants totaling 128 are summoned to appear or submit written statements to the court as part of the settlement process. Many have indicated they will not attend.
C D Fields a bartender at the C D Marx saloon said he was held up and badly beaten by two men while returning home with groceries. He grabbed a beer bottle from his pocket and used it as a weapon, inflicting a facial bruise on one assailant before the pair fled toward town.

Washington April 28 McAdoo said the coming seven billion dollar loan would be titled the liberty loan of 1917. He believes the name suits as every dollar will be spent against autocracy and terms will be announced within forty eight hours.
Cheyenne Industrial Club moves to form a people's oil exchange to curb wildcatting. President John D. Clark appoints a committee to study establishing a public, reputable market for oil stocks, aiming to attract finance and inform investors. If viable, the plan gains club support at Monday directors' luncheon.
