Rev Karl Reiland preached kindness to strangers at St George's New York when Thomas W Simpkin fired a revolver in the pews. He shot Dr James M Matkoc and wounded another worshipper before being captured in Stuyvesant Park. Simpkin had prior asylum stays for paranoia.

Washington April 24 Senator McNary Republican Oregon introduced a bill to stamp manufacturers prices on shoes and other footwear to cut profits and retail costs. The measure would take effect August 1 and carry a $1 000 fine and two years imprisonment.

St Louis reports sugar at 30 cents a pound due to Cuban crop shortfalls and a yardmen strike. New York city commissioner Edwin J. O Malley urged a one month boycott of candy soda water and pastry to relieve the sugar shortage and lower prices. He blamed heavy use by manufacturers who control the supply.
Mr. Joseph Six, 66, claims to own the Hot Springs Civic Center after buying it from two men at a low price. Police dispute his claim as Officer Reno asks for authority to clear people off the grass. Six presents a bill of sale but authorities say he does not own the property.
A famed bootlegger operating between Cheyenne and Denver is in Cheyenne. He declined five cases of bonded whisky offered by an owner, amid the high cost of living. The whisky’s location remains unknown.
Friends of Mrs. Charles D. Garey sympathize with her loss of sister Mrs. Fillebrown who died in Philadelphia on Saturday. Garey received word Friday that her sister was critically ill and Carey left for the East. Mrs. Carey could not go due to her small son. Fillebrown had made many Cheyenne friends during her visits here and they grieve at her death.
Problems surrounding the Cheyenne apartment house project will be discussed at a Monday night meeting. Investors fear first mortgage bonds may not protect other holders, risking losses if the project fails. A proposed remedy could issue mortgage bonds to stock buyers on a dollar for dollar basis to shield their original investment.
