Pershing objects to brigadier generals nominees in Senate

General Pershing cabled the War Department protesting nominations of several brigadier generals sent to the Senate last week. London april 23. An enemy destroyer was torpedoed and five concrete filled block ships were blown up to block Ostend and Zeebrugge harbors in a daring raid. British forces, with auxiliary ships and volunteers, fought for an hour at Zeebrugge mole and an old submarine was exploded nearby. Ostend lies eight miles east of West End on the North Sea coast.
