Four Little Boys Drown In Reservoir Tragedy

In En campment Wyoming on April 16 four young boys aged from Madden and Ferry families drowned after entering a municipal reservoir to play. Two bodies were recovered quickly, the others after hours of effort, and the tragedy is suspected to involve a heroic attempt to save a companion.

Kentucky Night Riders Guilt Convictions Reported

Eight Grant county farmers were found guilty of conspiracy in restraint of trade by a United States district court jury in Covington Kentucky. Fines may range from 100 to 1000 dollars. The case marks the government’s first action against the Night Riders. One defendant John H Steere a clergyman and Kentucky legislator was among convicted men who allegedly interfered with interstate commerce by intimidating W T Osborne into withdrawing a tobacco shipment to a trust buyer.

Woman attacked by armed man in uniform near Eddy street

Miss Hattie Boyer, a White saleswoman, was assaulted by a Negro in soldier clothing at Twenty-eighth and Eddy streets. He fired at her, beat her unconscious with a plate, robbed her purse, and left her for dead near Contra avenue. Miss Elvina Stone witnessed part of the incident as they traveled from Truckey store. The assailant fled toward the pump house at Contra avenue.

Young boy accused of defacing property

William McGinley a 14 year old boy is detained at police headquarters on a charge of defacing property. Officers say he has written the name John Spike on many buildings attracting annoyance and loss. Merchants offer a reward for the culprit. He denies the charge and was released to go home with a police court appearance set for Monday at 4 PM.
