British battleship Lord Nelson Sunk at Dardanelles

Athens dispatches report the British battleship Lord Nelson stranded at the Dardanelles and destroyed by Turkish fire. The vessel built in 1906 with 16500 tons and four 17 inch guns may be the first sunk there. Other ships sunk include Ocean Irresistible Fouvet Hermes and Divine according to official notices.

Atlantic Storm Devastates Coast Killing and Sinking Vessels

New York April 5 An Atlantic coast storm caused extensive loss of life and property. Dozens of ships sunk or damaged with at least seventy lives lost, including the Prinz Mauritz off Virginia capes and the Edward Luckenbach. The Coast Guard and warships aided rescues as wreckage strews beaches from Virginia to Georgia.

Medjidieh Sinks After Mine Strike Off Odessa

Turkish armored cruiser Medjidieh was sunk after striking a mine during a chase by Russian destroyers near Odessa. Two small Russian vessels, the Provident and Vostochnaya, were sunk. crews were captured. A Turkish mine sweeper near the Dardanelles was also sunk by Port Kun Kale batteries.

German U boat sinks three ships off English coast

On Sunday afternoon off the Isle of Wight the Glaskow steamer Olivine and the Russian bark Hermes were sunk by a German submarine. Their crews launched boats and were rescued by a British torpedo boat destroyer. The City of Bremen sailing from Dublin was sunk off Wolf Rock south of Lands End. four crew members drowned and twelve survivors reached Penzance.

French Officer Shoots Wife in Court Martial Case

Paris April 5 Captain Herail a French cavalry officer will face a court martial for killing his wife who followed him to Compiegne defying orders banning officers families from camps. He suffered illness after the crime but recovered and was handed to military police.
